The Anticorruption Prosecutor's Office has announced that prosecutors have started presenting evidence in court to support the accusations against former president Igor Dodon in the 13th court session.

According to information from the Prosecutor's Office, the lawyers defending Igor Dodon have been fined 1000 lei each for repeatedly submitting motions to recuse the prosecutor in bad faith and with abusive intentions to delay the process.

It should be noted that Igor Dodon is accused of two charges of passive corruption, including an episode from a video recording in which he received a bag of money, generically called "kulyok," from oligarch Plahotniuc to make an alliance with the PDM. He also faces an accusation of illicit financing of the Socialist Party. The parts of the file related to accusations of illicit enrichment and treason remain under the management of the prosecutors.

After spending six months under house arrest, the supreme court decided to place Igor Dodon under judicial control in November 2022, and he was forbidden from leaving the country. The same measure was applied in the case of his wife, Galina Dodon, who is also under investigation for illicit enrichment.

At the beginning of this year, Dodon's defenders requested court permission for him, his wife, and son to visit Romania for medical purposes. However, later, the Anticorruption Prosecutor's Office announced that the lawyers had presented false documents to the court.
