The Supreme Court of Justice has declared inadmissible the appeal filed by lawyers Cristian Bizian and Isae Cureș on behalf of Ilan Shor in the dispute concerning the oligarch’s Moldovan identity documents. The irrevocable decision was issued on April 2.

In October 2023, the Chișinău Court of Appeal rejected the appeal filed by Ilan Shor against the Public Services Agency (ASP), which had annulled his Moldovan identity documents in 2021. Thus, the decision of the first instance court, which found that the request of the former leader of the Shor Party—declared unconstitutional—was unfounded, was upheld.

Shor’s Moldovan identity documents—a national ID issued in 2012 and a passport issued in 2010—were annulled by the ASP in November 2021.

In a press release, the institution announced that it had carried out a verification, at the request of the Anticorruption Prosecutor’s Office, which revealed that the documents in Shor’s name had been issued in violation of the law and in his absence. Both the photo and the handwritten signature on the annulled documents were taken from the database, having been made several years earlier. It was also found that the documents had been handed over to third parties, contrary to legal provisions.
