Health Minister Ala Nemerenco has requested the Supreme Court of Justice to speed up the examination of her legal dispute with Socialist MP Alla Darovannaia. However, the court rejected the request on May 13, citing a heavy workload. As a result, Darovannaia’s appeal will be reviewed under normal procedure, even though two lower courts already ruled in favor of Nemerenco, ordering the MP to retract false statements about the minister’s master’s degree and pay 20,000 lei in moral damages.

In July 2021, the Chișinău Court, Centru seat, ruled that Alla Darovannaia must pay 20,000 lei in moral damages to Ala Nemerenco — who at the time was a presidential advisor — and cover all legal expenses.

"The MP is obliged to personally and publicly retract the information disseminated during the February 2, 2021 press conference held in the Parliament of the Republic of Moldova, as well as the statements posted on her Facebook page, which were found to be defamatory, false, and presented as factual. She must also publicly apologize," states the court decision, which was upheld by the Chișinău Court of Appeal, Centru.

On February 2, 2021, Socialist MPs Vladimir Odnostalco and Alla Darovannaia accused Ala Nemerenco and six other medical professionals of obtaining master's degrees "without attending classes or defending a thesis – based on an order from the Ministry of Health."

At the time, Ala Nemerenco declared that the accusations were a form of personal revenge from the socialists because she had dismantled "certain schemes."
