The Chișinău Court, Rîșcani office, upheld the request of Dmitri Constantinov, President of the People's Assembly of the ATU Gagauzia, who sued the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) after his diplomatic passport was revoked. The court ordered the MFA to return the document, which had been seized on April 23, 2024. However, the decision can be appealed to the Chișinău Court of Appeal within 30 days from the date the ruling was issued, May 22.
Constantinov took the MFA to court after discovering he could no longer travel using his diplomatic passport. He found out the document was no longer valid upon returning from Moscow, where he attended the founding congress of the "Victory" bloc, alongside Ilan Șor and other deputies affiliated with the fugitive oligarch.
Dmitri Constantinov is known as one of Ilan Șor’s most active political partners. He does not hide his close ties to the fugitive oligarch, who was sentenced to 15 years in prison for large-scale fraud in the bank fraud case.
Together with Governor (Bașkan) Evghenia Guțul, Constantinov visited Șor in Israel multiple times. During that period, the three discussed the conditions for forming the Executive Committee. According to sources, the list of members was approved by Ilan Șor during these meetings.
