Victor Bogatico, mayor of the town Rascani and his accomplice were arrested by CNA officers and Anti-corruption prosecutors on suspicion of traffic of influence. The denouncer said the two asked for and received US$5,000 for favoring him at an auction to sell a building located in Rascani. 

These 2 assured the man that they have influence over councilors of the Town Council and can make them choose him as the winner of the auction. They are held at the remand unit of the National Anticorruption Center, being placed under arrest initially for 72 hours. The suspects may face up to 7 years in jail for traffic of influence. 

Victor Bogatico, representative of “Our Party” owns the second term as mayor. In 2011, he was elected mayor and was the candidate of the Communist Party. He withdrew from this party in April 2015. The name of Victor Bogatico relates to scandals focused on tenders’ organization. Thus, in early 2014, Moldova Curata wrote about a case where the grandson of the mayor from the side of his sister won a public land at an open-cry auction. Victor Bogatico was  head of the tender commission, writes Moldova Curata, thus violating the legal regime of conflict of interests. This case was investigated by CNI and the Anticorruption Prosecutor's Office. After examination by the media and law enforcement institutions, the auction results were annulled.

In the declaration of assets for 2013, Victor Bogatico indicates a total income of 80,000 lei from the salary of mayor. He did not indicate other property, house or car.
