The Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office filed a complaint following the publication of the investigation of the Center of Investigative Journalism in Moldova titled "Prosecutor Ruslan Popov's unknown business in Orhei".

The head of the Anticorruption Prosecutor's Office, Elena Cazacov, reported for the anticoruptie.md portal that a prosecutor has been appointed to check the information from the journalistic investigation, after which a decision will be taken.

On the other hand, Mariana Cherpec, the spokesperson of the General Prosecutor's Office, said that the institution will react to all journalistic investigations, if there are reasons. "The prosecutor's office will react to all cases which are published by the media, if their content results in a reasonable suspicion that a crime was committed," the official said.

Ruslan Popov is in pre-trial detention and is charged in a case for illicit enrichment.
