The Children’s Ombudsperson Maia Bănărescu acts in the case of Georgeta Negruţă, mother of 5 children from Călăraşi, who was thrown out of the house for a debt of 7 thousand lei. The case was made public in an investigation conducted by the Center for Investigative Journalism in Moldova (CIJM).

Tatiana Popa, lawyer at the Children’s Advocacy Institute informed us that Georgeta Negruta received legal support, and now she benefits from the services of a state lawyer. The official said that she spoke with one of the bailiffs and he unblocked her salary card and accepted the staggered payment of the debt.

As for the bailiff George Botan, Georgeta Negruta was helped to challenge in court his decisions and to write a complaint to the Ethics and Disciplinary Commission of the Union of Bailiffs.

Georgeta Negruta informed us that after our investigation was published, people brought food, clothes and toys for children, and a young man, who recently returned from abroad, paid the debt to the financial institution. She also said that the administration of the Calarasi District Hospital, where she works, will transfer her to a better paid job soon.

At the beginning of this month, the CIJM published an investigation about the woman from Calarasi, who raises 5 children by herself and is thrown out of the house by the bailiff because she failed to repay on time a loan of 6,500 which she contracted from a microfinance company.
