A flashmob was organized in the center of the capital to protest against domestic violence and abuse of women and children. The event was also a reaction to the recent incident involving MP Vasile Bolea, who became the center of a domestic violence scandal concerning his wife. Participants carried banners with anti-violence messages.
Some of the signs directly targeted MP Vasile Bolea. “And you call yourself a man?” asked the protesters.
The event was organized by journalist Elena Celak, a contributing writer for the portal Anticoruptie.md, who emphasized that any form of violence must be stopped from the beginning and that society must respond promptly to hold aggressors accountable.
“While you remain silent, the violence continues! Through this campaign, we urge people not to stay silent in the face of violence. Break the silence, stop the violence! – this is an imperative that should not be ignored so these incidents can be properly sanctioned,” said Elena.

MP Vasile Bolea was issued a restraining order and is not allowed to approach his family after allegedly assaulting his wife. Police intervened on the evening of Friday, April 25, after one of the parliamentarian’s children called 112, saying that “dad is hurting mom.”
Later, Bolea’s wife denied the reports of violence in the media, stating that the information was false.
