Laura Codruta Kovesi, head of the National Anti-corruption Directorate (DNA) of Romania will lead a EU mission of assessment at the General Prosecutor’s Office. She comes as an expert, not as a representative of DNA, as head of the Parliament of the Republic of Moldova Andrian Candu recently announced.

This information was confirmed for the Anti-corruption portal by Livia Saplacan, Spokesperson and Head of Information and PR Office of the National Anticorruption Directorate. «No DNA delegation comes to Chisinau.  Laura Codruta Kovesi will arrive to our country not as a representative of DNA, but as an expert, during a visit organized by the Delegation of the European Commission in Moldova", said Saplacan.

Contacted by us, Victoria Onofreiciuc, PM Communication and Publications at EU Delegation to Moldova said that the institution will submit a press release about the event on Friday, though Andrian Candu said  on 20 November, in the show "Fabrica" on Publika TV that the mission will arrive to Chisinau "in coming days".

Also, Candu pointed out that the Mission made up from 50 European experts in justice field will assess law institutions in the Republic of Moldova in charge with corruption eradication. The first institution subjected to assessment will be the General Prosecutor’s Office followed by the National Integrity Commission and the National Anti-corruption Center.

The assessment mission was requested in September by the Speaker Andrian Candu and by former Prime Minister Valeriu Strelet. They submitted a relevant request the EU Delegation in Moldova.
