Chief of the Service of the mobile team of Border Police Sud was detained by officers of CNA and by anticorruption prosecutors on suspicion of taking bribes. He forced a minibus driver running on route Moldova - Italy to pay a sum of 100 euros every month.
The bribe was taken to allow the minibus not to pass the customs control.
In a press release, CNA announced that on Wednesday evening, November 11, an intermediary was caught red-handed on route Cahul- Chisinau while taking a sum of 80 euros from a denouncer. According to preliminary information, he would have acted at the order of the policeman.
Subsequently, both the intermediary and the policeman were detained for 72 hours. A criminal case for passive corruption was started and the 2 persons might face up to ten years in prison.
