Magistrate Olga Cojocaru rejected the request of recusal of the magistrate judge Ghenadie Pavliuc filed by Vlad Filat’s lawyers. He will decide whether the Liberal-Democrat MP remains in custody.
Defenders asked for Ghenadie Pavliuc's recusal from the Court of Buiucani sector in the capital, because he is supposed to be a relative of the chairman of the Democratic Party, Marian Lupu. "I have never seen this man, I do not know him. He cannot be my brother-in-law as I do not have any brothers or sisters. My wife does not have either", said chairman of PD on Publika TV.
Ex-Prime Minister of the Republic of Moldova Vlad Filat was arrested for 72 hours on Thursday, October 15. He is charged of passive corruption and influence peddling. This decision was taken after the Chief Prosecutor Corneliu Gurin asked Parliament to strip Filat of his immunity from prosecution as a lawmaker.
