Political will and lustration in the law system are necessary for efficient Prosecution reform and fighting corruption, said Maia Sandu, president of the Party Action and Solidarity (PAS), in an interview for the portal Anticoruptie.md that will be published in the coming days.

"Now, they deal with the case of some criminals to prevent their sanctioning and investigation. For others, they intervene for the things not to be properly understood. So, the first important thing to be done is for politicians to give up these influences and the second is to increase the capacities of these institutions. It is not easy, but it is something feasible and can happen for two or three years. I'm sure that we can get consistent international support when we prove political will for measures of fighting corruption, strengthening the capacities of these institutions and  in a few years we will have prosecutors who know and can investigate these cases in accordance with  best international practices", says Maia Sandu.

Former Minister of Education together with the PAS team aims to clean the legal system based on a Lustration Law that would allow prosecutors and judges to leave posts depending on their actions or inactions taken so far, by reviewing the cases which they have investigated or decisions which they have issued. "We believe that all prosecutors who were involved or who tolerated corruption must leave the system and these people should be replaced by new people. The same applies to the judges. Laundering of billions, illegal money, decisions that authorized the illegal transfer of shares from a shareholder in the banking system to another, i.e. bank raider. All decisions that have been taken unlawfully, some of them related to the theft of the billion, are examples of huge corruption. We can filter out all judges to see who participated in the fraud and thus get them out of the system. Of course, after cleaning the system, we opt for growth of independence, both in the judiciary system and in the Prosecution", said Maia Sandu.
