The Parliament of the Republic of Moldova can be dissolved within the last 6 months of mandate of the president, if it is not able to invest a new Government, ruled the Constitutional Court (CC) on Tuesday, November 24.
"The impossibility of forming a Government within three months leads to the dissolution of Parliament even if this time falls within the last six months of the Presidential tenure", said chairman of the Constitutional Court, Alexandru Tanase.
The request to interpret the Constitution was made by a group of Socialist MPs.
Strelet Government was dismissed Thursday, October 29, by a vote of 65 for and 18 against MPs, after three months of activity. The decision of Socialist and Communist MPs to file a no-confidence motion is grounded by Valeriu Strelet’s involvement in corruption. Strelet lost the vote with 65 of Moldova’s 101 MPs - from the PD, the Socialist Party (PSRM) and the Communist Party (PCRM) - voting against him.
