The EU-funded EU NEIGHBOURS east programme has prepared a special enlargement page explaining the EU enlargement process. The main focus is on the candidate countries from the Eastern Partnership: Ukraine, Moldova and Georgia.

The page – EU Enlargement for Ukraine, Moldova and Georgia – takes you through the latest 2025 Enlargement Package, which provides a detailed assessment of the progress made by each country, and recommendations on reform priorities. The European Commission says Ukraine and Moldova remain strongly committed to its EU accession path, having successfully completed the screening process and advanced on key reforms. Regarding Georgia, the Commission says that in light of the country’s continued backsliding, the Commission considers Georgia “a candidate country in name only”.
