Within the Judicial Vetting Commission, the structure of the evaluation panels has been updated through the renaming of the two existing panels and the creation of three new ones. This measure is driven by the expansion of the Commission’s membership to 9 members (compared to 6 previously) and aims to improve the organization of the evaluation process.

Thus, the panels previously operating under the names A and B have been renamed C and D, while retaining their composition and responsibilities. Panels A and B, established on 23 June 2025, will continue their activity until the completion of the assigned evaluations and re-evaluations. In parallel, three new panels – E, F, and G – have been constituted through the incorporation of the three recently appointed members. This reorganization aims to ensure a more balanced allocation of the cases subject to evaluation.

We recall that, by its decision of 10 July 2025, Parliament appointed three new members to the Judicial Vetting Commission, bringing its composition to 9 members, compared to 6 previously. The three new members are: two international experts – Gerrit-Marc Sprenger and Marcel van de Wetering – and one national member – Iulian Rusu.

On 19 August, the Commission transmitted notifications regarding the renaming and establishment of the new panels to the presidents and vice presidents of the courts currently undergoing evaluation. Following the approval of the new panels, newly submitted subjects for evaluation will be assigned to the new panels E, F, and G. Evaluations referred to the full Commission will be conducted with the participation of all 9 members.
