The President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, extended a congratulatory message to Maia Sandu on the X platform following her victory in the presidential election in the Republic of Moldova held on November 3. Von der Leyen acknowledged that the President of Moldova demonstrated exceptional strength in facing the challenges of the campaign and expressed confidence in the country's European path.
"Congratulations, dear Maia Sandu, on your victory this evening. It takes a rare kind of strength to overcome the challenges you faced in these elections. I am pleased to continue working with you for a European future for Moldova and its people," wrote Ursula von der Leyen on X.
After processing all the election protocols, the Central Electoral Commission confirmed the victory of the current President of the Republic of Moldova, with a result of 55.33 percent of the votes.
Thus, Maia Sandu becomes the first president in Moldova's history to secure a second term through citizens' votes.
