22 members of the Chisinau Municipal Council (CMC) voted for a resolution declaring the Russian Federation as a state–sponsor of terrorism. Those who supported the resolution are councilors representing the Action and Solidarity Party (PAS), the DA Platform, the Liberal Party (PL), the National Unity Party (PUN), and some unaffiliated councilors. Socialist Party (PSRM), the "Shor" Party, the Democratic Party (PDM), and the Communist Party (PCRM) did not join the initiative.
The proposal to declare the Russian Federation a terrorist state caused an uproar among local elected officials. The councilors of PCRM and PSRM threatened to request the suspension of the chairman of the meeting and turned off the microphones and the light. Later, they left the hall in protest. In the end, however, the Resolution, which condemns Russia's illegal and unjustified war of aggression against Ukraine, was approved with 22 votes.
In the document, the advisors call on the Russian Federation to immediately, completely and unconditionally cease attacks on residential areas and civilian infrastructure and to withdraw all its military forces, interlocutors and military equipment from the entire internationally recognized territory of Ukraine.
