Ilan Șor, the leader of the Şor party, who was sentenced to prison for fraud and money laundering and announced as being on an international wanted list, must admit that he distributed false information about President Maia Sandu and make a public apology. Ilan Șor, who was accused of lying and defaming the president, will also have to pay compensation in the amount of 50,000 lei.

On July 18, 2018, Maia Sandu filed a summons against Ilan Șor, requesting that the information posted by him on his Facebook page on June 6 and 7, 2018, be found to be false and defamatory. In these texts, Şor wrote that Maia Sandu would have received money from envelopes that he might have given to Vlad Filat

Through her defender, Sandu requested the denial of the information and an apology, as well as the collection of moral damages in the amount of 200,000 lei. By the decision of January 21, 2021, of the Chisinau Court, Center headquarters, the summons request was partially admitted, and the reports posted by Ilan Șor on his Facebook page were found to be false and defamatory. The court ordered the payment of damages in the amount of 50,000 lei.

"The appeal declared by Ilan Șor, through his lawyer Vadim Banaru, against the decision of July 7, 2022, of the Chisinau Court of Appeal, is considered inadmissible. The conclusion is irrevocable," states the SCJ decision signed by the President of the panel, Svetlana Filincova, and Judges Galina Stratulat and Maria Ghervas.
