The file opened in the name of the former deputy head of the Anticorruption Prosecutor's Office, Adriana Bețișor, is gathering dust in the first instance court one year after the end of the criminal investigation. On Friday, at the Chisinau Court, Buiucani office, a new meeting was supposed to take place, but there is no certainty that it will be productive because all previous court sessions were postponed or interrupted.

The first meeting was to take place on September 6, 2021, but it was interrupted for the examination of the statement of abstention by judge Valentina Garabagiu. Even though it was rejected, the meeting did not take place. Subsequent hearings, which were not efficient, had the same fate. The last attempt collided with a new request from the defense, which asked for more time to get acquainted with the criminal case materials and the indictment.

The former deputy head of the Anticorruption Prosecutor's Office, Adriana Bețişor, is being investigated for passive corruption in particularly large proportions, abuse of office and interference in the administration of justice. Adriana Bețișor was accused, for the first time, of receiving a bribe from the convicted Ruslan Doboș.

"The criminal acts would have been committed in 2018, when the accused, acting as a prosecutor, would get 50,000 euros from a convicted person. In return for this amount, the prosecutor was to reclassify her actions and withdraw her accusations in the case, pending at the Chisinau Court of Appeal", the accusers declare.

On the other hand, Adriana Bețișor rejects her former colleagues’ accusations

Adriana Bețișor is known for having a relatively short activity period as a prosecutor while handling resonance cases. In 2012, she led a group of prosecutors who raided Veaceslav Platon's companies. In 2013, he handled the case of Leonid Volneanschi, the owner of the Elat shopping center, accused of fraud on a particularly large scale.

In the same way, Bețișor led a group at the Anticorruption Prosecutor's Office that dealt with the investigation of the theft of the billion. She handled one of the criminal files of Ilan Șor, as well as the case of the Caravita company and Ion Rusu, a relative of ex-prime minister Vladimir Filat. Bețişor also handled the case of Vladimir Filat, sentenced to nine years in prison. Both trials - against Rusu and against Filat - took place behind closed doors, and the lawyers pointed to the unfairness of the prosecution and the trial.
