Montenegrin Prime Minister Dritan Abazović stated on February 14 that he had no information suggesting that Montenegrins were involved in the alleged plan to overthrow the government in Chisinau.

"We will attempt to contact the Moldovan government for more information. If necessary, our security services will conduct additional investigations. If they have additional information, we are willing to listen," Abazović told Free Europe correspondents in Podgorica.

At Chisinau International Airport, five boxers from Montenegro, along with their coach, were stopped by the Moldovan border police and were not allowed entry into the Republic of Moldova.

The Montenegrin athletes wrote on the Facebook page of the sports club they belong to, stating that they came to participate in an international tournament called "Pavel LUSCESCHII," which takes place in Chisinau between February 15-17, but were denied access.

"The police at Chisinau Airport did not allow our team to enter the Republic of Moldova, without providing any explanation. After a few hours of waiting, our boxers were given their documents and asked to return on the first plane, departing at 9:20 a.m. to Istanbul, after which they would board another plane at 7:40 p.m. bound for Podgorica," the boxers wrote on Facebook.

It should be noted that 12 citizens of Serbia, who claimed to be supporters of the Partizan Belgrade team, were also turned back from Chisinau International Airport.

During a press conference on Monday, the President of the Republic of Moldova, Maia Sandu, stated that the Intelligence and Security Service had information about plans to involve citizens of Russia, Belarus, Serbia, and Montenegro in a Kremlin-backed coup in Chisinau.
