The president of the country, Maia Sandu, made an appeal to the citizens on the evening of Monday, April 10th. The head of state announced the convening of a new assembly of national scope - the "Moldova European" National Assembly - in the Grand National Assembly Square on May 21st. Sandu also referred to the challenges faced by the Republic of Moldova due to the war in the neighboring country, as well as dangers from within, noting that "a group of thieves, paid with dirty money, planned to block our European path, our road to peace and well-being".

The head of state, Maia Sandu, declared that "big decisions are not made only by politicians at crucial moments. Big decisions are made by the people in the Great National Assembly Square."

"I urge you to explain to those who still have doubts that decisions regarding the future of the Republic of Moldova are made in the Republic of Moldova. The time has come for Moldovans to show that we are a determined people, in control of our home, a people that can defend our democracy, peace, and communities with our heads held high. I believe the time has come for those watching us, both in the East and West, to see that in decisive moments for our destiny, we are united and brave. I announce that we have launched the initiative to convene a citizens' meeting in Chisinau to tell the world that we are Europeans and that this is the path we have chosen," said the head of state, Maia Sandu.

In the next period, Sandu will hold discussions with pro-European political forces, civil society, the academic environment, and personalities of our country to discuss details related to this event.
