Seven non-governmental media organizations, including the Center for Investigative Journalism(CIJM), are condemning the unacceptable behavior of the Minister of Agriculture and Food Industry, Vladimir Bolea, towards a journalist who posed questions during a press conference on Thursday, September 14. The journalist was verbally abused by the dignitary.

In a statement released on Friday, the media NGOs characterize the minister's actions as contrary to the generally accepted norms of conduct in a democratic society and as harmful to the individual's honor and dignity. It is noted that, as the reporter inquired whether the state provides assistance to apple farmers, Minister Vladimir Bolea used uncensored language in his address.

"The undersigned organizations express their outrage at this defiant behavior and believe that such language is incompatible with the position of a minister," the statement reads.

The NGOs are urging the Prime Minister of the Republic of Moldova, Dorin Recean, "to ensure the disciplinary accountability of Minister Vladimir Bolea, in accordance with the responsibilities outlined in Article 22, paragraph (2), letter j) of the Law on the Government."

"We vehemently condemn any form of intolerance towards journalists and media institutions and call on all dignitaries to adopt respectful language and behavior in their interactions with the press," states the declaration of the seven media NGOs:
